Behindert & verrückt feiern in Wien

,MAD & DIS_ABILITY PRIDE

WE ARE A SMALL GROUP OF PEOPLE,

inspired by the “Disability and Mad Pride Parade” in Berlin (www.pride-parade.de).
On April 9th 2017 we already organized a disabled_mad filmbrunch.

Since then we’ve met a few times.
Some of us travelled together to the Pride Parade on July 15th 2017 in Berlin.
We also think about organizing a similar parade and planning other campaigns and events here in Vienna.
We are planning some workshops for this year.
And we would like to be part of the CSD in Vienna at 16th of June 2018.

Currently we´re mainly worried about Personal Assistance and
politicians’ inactivity as well as the possible political changes after
the elections in October 2017.

We are people with different experiences of being disabled and/or mad.
Each of us decides where to belong.

Some of us have experiences with
psychiatry
getting/being disabled
crises
illness
pathologization
discrimination

Some of us see themselves as
fat
trans*
queer
crips
mad

In spring 2018 we organize community workshops:

The next one is titled:

“Psychopathologisation, Crises and mutual Support” with Tab Bergner and Leon_ly* Antwerpen, Saturday and Sunday, May 26th and 27th from 10.00am to 5.00 pm (Sa) and from 11.00am to 4.00 pm (Su) at  Selbstlaut

What do we think of psychiatric diagnosis and (psycho)pathologisation?
What exactly does it mean and how does it effect people?
How is this connected to social norms and discrimination?
Which parts of this are noticeable within the queer scene?
Which terms do I want to use in order to describe conditions, people and myself?
How do I know, if something is getting too much? What is good for me?
What to do, in case I or others need support?

In the framework of the workshop we want to discuss these as well as other questions you want to bring (up). We will read texts, watch film clips, give input, reflect individually and collectively and most off all come together in conversation and share our perspectives.
Together we want to create a space for discussion, criticism, question and exclamation marks, feeling comfortable and encouraging moments!

Open for all queers, with and without psychiatric or therapy experience, who want to reflect on criticism on diagnoses and possibilities of support in crises and other conditions.

We (Tab Bergner – Disability and Mad Pride Parade Berlin and Leon_ly* Antwerpen – quix collective for critical educational work) are leading the workshop and have different experiences with the psychiatric system, diagnoses, supporting and being supported, we are both white, (gender)queer and have no dis_abilities.

“Workshop celebrating our Bodies” Saturday, June 9th 2018 from12.00 am to 6.30 pm with Elisabeth Löffler and Georgie Gruber

We will focus on our own desires, our own wishes and experiences, the sexual SELF. How can you experience eroticism, sexuality and tenderness with or without others involved? If nothing works, what is it that still works? We want to provide you with the possibility to expand your scope of perception and action.
We will speak collectively, and take space to work with our own bodies individually. We will prepare topics like self-perception, self-love, supporting one another in a relaxed and cosy giving and taking. You are very welcome to introduce your own topics.
Please bring your own sheets, blankets and maybe cushions, so you can lie down comfortably, as well as light clothing you feel good in. Nothing is mandatory – many things are possible.

Inputs: getting to know sex toys (you are very welcome to bring your own. We want to share our knowledge collectively), mini workshop safer sex.
Mixed abled, mixed gender
Exception: we ask cis-men of all sexual orientations not to join the workshop. We will not “check” on this though.
We ask couples, who exclusively want to do the physical exercises together not to sign up. A change of partners should be possible.
Shyness and inexperience are very welcome!

Elisabeth and Löffler and Georgie Gruber will facilitate the workshop.
Registration until: please sign up until June 2nd per mail

“Touch beyond Body Norms” Sunday, June 10th 2018 from 12.00 am to 06.30 pm with Phi* Schneeweiß and Sara Ablinger

This is a space and an Invitation for everyone who experiences marginalisation based on their bodies in society but also within the queer scene as well as being “different”:

* collecting different and shared experiences and encouraging one another
* feeling (more) comfortable in my own body as it is right now; feeling and enjoying my body
* based on that, getting in physical contact with others: expressing and feeling connectedness, trust and appreciation through my body in a playful, simple and courageous way.

All exercises are an (optional) offer: you can do them, but you do not have to. Everything is done only with the explicit consent of everyone involved.
This space is trauma-aware.

❤ Your body is very warmly welcome! ❤
